L.D.Frazier

LD Frazier was born in Los Angeles, moved to Buffalo in New York Sate, finally settling in New York City where he studied piano in the 1950's and later researched into the black religious experiences.

His deep interest in the origins of Gospel music has led him to trace the evolution of this American expression from its African roots to its impact today. His repertoire includes early Spirituals of the late eighteenth century, Jubilee gospel that is associated with Emancipation in the nineteenth century, and the Gospel music of the twentieth century.

He has toured the world, made recordings, appeared on TV and in films (notably "Cotton Comes to Harlem" and Bette Midler's "The Rose"), and led many Gospel Workshops and lecture-demonstrations.

He has visited the UK on a number of occasions when he has joined Scott Stroman & Eclectic Voices in Gospel concerts, notably a concert with Paul Jones at The Barbican Concert Hall.

LD has also participated in the Gospel workshops of The London Guildhall Summer Jazz School to great acclaim.
